Car Clock

Description

This timepiece created and manufactured by Phinney-Walker is silver metal and round in shape. The silver is on the outside of the body and trims the face; the face of the clock takes up almost the entire front of the clock. The face is blue with white numbering and has a second hand counter as well, all covered in clear glass. On the back of the clock there are bolts which suggest that this clock may have been attached to or in something, and there is an outer rim to the clock. This clock was wound by spinning the outer rim and would be set for 8 days. Known as a rim-wind or bezel-wind clock this clock was commonly fitted as an accessory into vintage Model T Fords, Chevrolet and Buicks. This company designed and manufactured clocks for cars, and they were known world wide but were more commonly seen in Ford or General Motor vehicles. Made c. 1915.
