Coffee Mill

Description

Wall mounted coffee mill, called the Arcade X-Ray, 14" long, including round metal cup at bottom. The wooden hopper is dovetailed. There is a glass plate where the beans were held with a metal band on top. The round embossed metal lid on top of hopper slides and is 2" in diameter. The gear box is embossed cast iron with a crank, and a round black metal catcher cup attached below gear box by a metal bracket on back. Made by the Arcade Manufacturing Company, "The Arcade Manufacturing Company, founded in 1885, was a major producer of coffee grinders in the Freeport, Illinois area and across the entire country for over 50 years. Important inventions by Edgar and Charles Morgan in the late 1800s enabled the company to introduce a variety of attractive wall mills. These included their Telephone Mills, their X-Ray and Royal models, the Jewel, the Bell, and the Golden Rule, among others."
