Description

Brown wood bowl, gold plastic stem, black tip. Bowl screws into stem. On base of gold stem says "Twin Flow" "Pat Pend". Pipe belonged to Si Meade. Donor's Description: Si Meade, whose given name was "Levi", wife "Lulu", daughters "Geraldine" and "Murial". The Mead family moved from a farm in the Schultz area to the Andrews farm at Turkey Hollow on North Broadway, the first farm north of the city limits of Hastings. They lived there on the farm several years until William Andrews sold the farm to George Fingleton. Si and family moved to Hastings on north Michigan Ave. When prohibition was abolished, Si converted his cardroom into a tavern dispensing bottled and draft beer. Si's place known widely through the county. The tavern was located in the small building adjoining the Savings and Loan building on the west on State Street.
