Model Steam Engines

Description

Set of three model steam engines. These were originally mounted to a table, but were removed due to the condition of the table. A. C. Cretors & Co. .5 hp steam engine, made c. 1906. Model #8417, silver, copper, and red details, with one fly wheel. 12" x 20" x 11" The Cretor's & Co. No. 1 engine was used to operate a popcorn and peanut cart. In the background of the image of the engine is the "Tosty Rosty Man", c. 1900. Tosty Rosty was permanently attached to Cretor's & Co. popcorn and peanut machines. He turned the glass cylinder full of peanuts when the machine was working to demonstrate how they were originally roasted. B. Model steam engine, green and silver, with two fly wheels. 10" x 18" x 7" Likely mounted to a 1/4 or 1/3 scale model traction engine. C. Model steam engine, red, black, and brass, with two fly wheels that are different sizes. 9" x 24" x 11" May be modeled after a much larger Farrar & Trefts 12 HP steam engine that could run sawmills. Historic Charlton Park has a Farrar & Trefts engine in the 1890 sawmill on the property. D. Table (engines no longer attached)
