Context

The Royal Typewriter Company (now Royal Consumer Information Products, Inc.) was established by Edward B. Hess (1857–1941) and Lewis C. Meyers (1867–1951) in a Brooklyn machine shop in 1904. By the 1930s, the company produced over one million typewriters.
