Wooden Gothic Revival style bed. The paneled head and foot boards are made of mahogany and contain a single center arch. Context

This bed—purportedly the bed in which Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924) was born—was a family piece, purchased with a matching dresser in 1966 from a Wilson descendant. Since its arrival at Historic Columbia, the set has been on display in the Woodrow Wilson Family Home (now the Museum of the Reconstruction Era) except for a brief loan to the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum in Staunton, Virginia where Wilson was born. The bed contains a plaque denoting it as Wilson's birth bed that was adhered by admirers of Wilson to remember his life and career.
