Dark blue cap with a black lid. There is a pin of two crossed brass-colored swords applied to the front, as well as two strands of braided gold rope connected to the cap by two with gold buttons on either side of the hat. There is an eagle and arrow emblem on the buttons.

Use

A kepi is a cap with a flat top, most commonly circular, with a visor or bill. These caps are French in origin but were predominantly used in the United States during the Civil War by both Union and Confederate troops. As this cap is blue in coloring, it is assumed that it would have been worn by a member of the Union army.
