Tin cylinder candlestick mounted with a push rod circular base. It is made of two pieces connected with a hand-cut nut and screw.

Use

Candlesticks, whether plain or ornate, were used to hold tapered candles. This style of candlestick, known as a hogscraper candlestick, includes a thumb tab designed to eject the used candle from the holder. The name "hogscraper" references a device used to scrape hair from a hide after an animal was slaughtered.
