The Charlotte, Columbia, and Augusta Railroad, formed in 1869, stretched from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Augusta, Georgia, with Richland County stations in Doko (Blythewood), Killian, and Columbia. The Richmond and Danville Railroad of Virginia acquired this railroad in 1878, although it continued to operate under the former name until the 1880s. The $5 fare allowed for one person to travel up to 100 miles. The fare intentionally resembled United State currency at the time, and businesses along the railroad would sell goods for fare notes.Made/Created
