Context

This rocking chair purportedly belonged to Felixina Shephard Baker Woodrow (1837–1928), the aunt of Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924). Known to the family as Felie, she was the daughter of a Presbyterian minister, Reverend J.W. Baker of Georgia. Woodrow Wilson's father, Dr. Joseph R. Wilson (1822–1903), officiated the 1857 wedding between her and his brother-in-law, James Woodrow (1829–1907), in Dalton, Georgia. Both Felie and James are buried in Elmwood Gardens in Columbia, South Carolina, while Joseph and his wife, Jessie Wilson (1830–1888), are buried in the First Presbyterian churchyard in Columbia.
