Context

From 1952 to 1992, Columbia's Cottontown neighborhood housed a Coca-Cola Bottling Company plant at 2830 North Main Street. This facility was one of several across South Carolina, alongside locations in Greenville, Aiken, Dillon, and Rock Hill. This style of Coca-Cola bottle is known as a "hobbleskirt" bottle, named for its nipped-in, curvaceous shape that resembles the hobble skirt dresses popular in the early 1900s. The embossed numbers on the bottle indicate its manufacturing date, 1960, and the mold used, 60. Coca-Cola ceased this dating practice in the 1980s.
