Context

The Mann-Simons Cottage Museum of African American Culture was the operating name of the home at 1403 Richland Street prior to Historic Columbia assuming contractual stewardship of the site in 1996. Under Historic Columbia, the house and surrounding area is now known as the Mann-Simons Site, which uses family pieces, oral history, and archaeological remains to tell the story of the Mann-Simon's family. While it is unknown if this table originally belonged to the Mann-Simonsfamily, it has been on display at the property since it was donated to the Mann-Simons Cottage Museum in 1986.
