Context

In May 1916, Eau Claire Presbyterian Church was established at 629 Wildwood Avenue in the former Town of Eau Claire, a suburb north of Columbia. An outgrowth of a mission chapel established in the area by Columbia's First Presbyterian Church in October 1912, Eau Claire Presbyterian Church was considered the "daughter" of First Presbyterian. Around the time of the establishment of Eau Claire Presbyterian Church, the pew used by Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924) and his family was transferred there from First Presbyterian Church. Restored in 1967, the pew was dedicated during a special service in May of that year in Eau Claire Presbyterian Church's present sanctuary, which was constructed in 1955.
