A caption identifies the properties. On the right is a corner of 5273 Germantown Avenue, the Pleasant house. Just left of center is 5275-5277 Germantown Avenue, the Bank of Germantown between 1825 and 1868, where John Fanning Watson was cashier and where he lived in the rear upper floor. It says that Generals Washington, Knox, and Greene conferred here after the Battle of Germantown, that Thomas Jefferson and Edmund Randolph lived in this property in 1793, and Witherstine Antique Dealer was later located there. On the extreme left are 5281-5283 Germantown Avenue at the corner of Penn Street. In 1809 it belonged to the estate William Folwell and was occupied by Polly Donaldson. In 1851 William Hacker rented it to Francis Heyl who occupied it until 1857. It was divided into two buildings and in 1877 one was occupied by a druggist, Lewis Treichler.Collection
