Clippings and memorabilia from World War I scrapbook compiled by Dr. Naaman H. Keyser, page 75.
A single article clipped from the October, 1918 edition of the American Review is pasted onto page 75. This article poses the question "Should Germantown change its name because of the war?" It continues with the following: "'No,' says the Germantowner steeped in its historic environment. 'Because Germans of the twentieth century have disgraced the name of their race, that is no sufficient reason why a name embedded in American history for two and a third centuries and associated with so much that is best in American character should be abolished.'" The article reasserts this position, and closes with "No more thoroughly American community exists. Germantown has so much Americanized its name that it cannot be changed." Note that the last several paragraphs of this article have been glued to page 76.
