Noah's Ark sets were popular toys. Children were discouraged from playing with toys and dolls on Sunday, but they could play with a Noah's Ark toy due to its biblical theme. In the mid to late 19th Century (1850-1900), German craftsmen carved wooden animals and figures, distributed throughout Europe and the USA.
