Label: Elizabeth Drinker's diary for August 22, 1798 says "we returned to the lodging room we have taken, at the Widdow Bensel's--half of her house is taken by other persons." Sarah Bensell's husband, Dr. Charles Bensell had died in 1795. When this photograph was taken by Edwin C. Jellett in 1882, the building belonged to the Workingmen's Club of Germantown.Made/Created
