Description

An unusual view of the former Pennsylvania Railroad's Chestnut Hill [West] line right-of-way, immediately southeast of Chelten station. Seen here are houses being demolished, to make way for the removal of the grade crossing between the tracks and Chelten Avenue, which would require widening and deepening of the railroad right of way. The houses shown formerly stood on Woodlawn Street. The bridge carrying School House Lane over the tracks is visible in the background. The larger brick building in the back left of the photograph still stands.
