Description

"Charter and By-Laws of the Pauline Temporary Home of Germantown, Philadelphia." Organized 1879, incorporated March 8th, 1881. Published in booklet format, glue for binding. Soft covers, 16 pp. including covers. Published in Philadelphia by H. C. Coates, Printer, 1209 Market Street, 1881. 6 x 9" Consist of unpaginated text, with Charter consisting of nine articles, labeled I through IX. They are, as follows: Article I: Title Article II: Object and Location Article III: Term Article IV: Corporators Article V: Managers Article VI: Property Article VII: Management Article VIII: Contributors Article IX: Annual meetings. The charter was "signed" by the following: Mary W. Johnson, Emily W. Taylor, Mary L. Strawbridge, Martha A. Jones, Sarah L. Longstreth, Lilly H. Kay, Ellen B. Reeves, Alfred Jones, James A. Wright, Francis B. Reeves, Franklin Taylor, Joseph W. Johnson Jr. and recorded by Frank M. Highley, the Philadelphia Deputy Recorder of Deeds. Witnessed by James T. Mitchell and recorded in the Philadelphia Office for Recording Deeds by Louis Wagner, Recorder of Deeds. The second section consists of "By-Laws of the Board of Managers" Adopted April 5, 1881 and consists of the following articles: Article I: Meetings Article II: Duties of Officers Article III: Standing Committees Article IV: Matron Article V: Delinquent Members Article VI- Amendments The By-Laws also lists Officers, Managers, and Advisory Board for 1881, consisting of Mrs. Emily W. Taylor {President], Mrs. Alfred Jones and Mrs. Jabez Gates [Vice Presidents], Mrs. Sarah L. Longstreth [Secretary], Mrs. Mary L. Strawbridge [Treasurer].
