George W. Carpenter died in 1860; however, his widow continued to live there. In 1893, the mansion was demolished when some of the estate grounds were deeded to local financial moguls who developed it into what is now (2015) know as Pelham. Germantown Avenue (Main Street) was subject to numerous address changes as the population expanded from the center of Philadelphia. The site of the Mansion listed on the sale cataolgue as 5510 Main Street is today (2015) 6700-6800 Germantown Avenue.
