Silk collar with silk scrim, embroidery floss, and gold floss. Silk scrim embroidered pieces for collar; unfinished sections. Ivory background with peach, melon, blue, green embroidery, outlined in gold. Flowers and butterflies. Asia? China? "IY" in magic marker, on scrim.

See Sophie Steel textiles. Donor Anson Peckham was nephew of Sophie Steel. Steel (1870-1958) was born in Bethlehem, PA but grew up in Germantown. She later lived in England and France and was a student of Howard Pyle. She illustrated "Historic Dress in America."
