inscription reads: ‘Ruin’d by the war in 1777. Rebuilt more firmly 1780 by the Trusty Isaac Tustin. Carlton House is on Midvale Avenue in Queen Lane Section of Germantown. It was the home of C.S. Smith Familly. built 1780 by Henry Hill, demolished 1951.
