Melen Sheppard dropped off dress to GHS on 10/31/2002. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Winston Sheppard, are the official donors of the dress. Melen thought that perhaps the dress belonged to Marguerite Julia Cartwright 1887-1977. Framed color photograph of Melen taken in February, 1960 was found in box (reproduction can be found in object file). Inscription on back of photograph reads as follows, "Feb. 1960 Melen Sheppard - age 9 wearing dress of her Great-Great Grandmother Sally Carrol Smith." Marguerite Julia Cartwright married Charles Sheppard (parents of donors). They lived in Chestnut Hill at the corner of Evergreen Street and Prospect Avenue. Mr. and Mrs. Winston Sheppard (donors) lived on Moreland Avenue when they married.
