Front page from the Germantown Independent published on September 15, 1883. There are numerous articles recounting news, however one of the central pieces of the paper focused on the erection of the Concord School on the north side of Main Street above Washington Lane in Germantown. Two members of the Kirk & Nice business were members of the school's Board of Trustees, Jacob Knorr and Winard Nice. There were also a burial ground adjacent to the school.
