Five images found on page 164 of scrapbook 2, "Pictorial Germantown Road and the Vicinity & Some of its Inhabitants. Compiled by George Clarence Johnson. Volume I. East Side."
Image a, at the top of the page, is a photograph of Mermaid Lane from Germantown Avenue showing the old log cabin of Chritopher Yeakle on the left and the Mermaid Hotel on the right. A caption indicates that the cabin was built in 1743, demolished in 1909, and was the home of the Heydrick family; also that the Mermaid Tavern or Hotel was built in 1734, torn down and rebuilt in 1913.
Image b, center left, is a sketch of the log cabin by John Richards.
Image c, center right, is a sketch of the Mermaid Hotel, showing Mermaid Lane on the left and an automobile in the distance.
Image d, lower left, is a sketch of the log cabin with the adjacent building to the rear on the left and Germantown Avenue and Mermaid Lane in the foreground.
Image e, lower right, is a photograph of the log cabin after a snowfall.Collection
