Urban Archives Exhibit Ex31
Label: In 1824 Reuben Haines, III son of Caspar Wistar Haines and grandson of Reuben Haines I, hired architect William Strickland to remodel Wyck. After several generations of absentee ownership or part-time occupancy, family members again made Wyck their year-round home. This drawing from the Historic American Buildings Survey shows the buildings and gardens on the site. Three early structures have been consolidated to form the structure we now know as Wyck. (15)
