Black-painted hard leather fire hat with crown segmented with sewn ribs converging at top, this is surmounted by a dog finial. Cut-out letters at front reading, "Washington" and "5" with red and black background. Inside band is twill linen with paper. Narrow band in front and sides widening and turning up at back.
