Clippings and memorabilia from World War I scrapbook compiled by Dr. Naaman H. Keyser, page 47
Two newspaper clippings are glued to this page.
The first clipping, 47a, is of a lithograph of the "New Service House" at the Germantown Conservatory.
The second article, 47b, bears the header "Houston Post Has its Annual Dinner: Speeches by Colonel Miller, Alien Property Custodian, and Captain Dismukes." The article notes: "Members of Houston Post, American Legion, had their annual dinner Tuesday night, in Masonic Hall, and after the dinner the 250 firmer service men present listened to a series of interesting speeches and enjoyed a pleasing entertainment. A feature of the evening was the awarding of two silver medals for meritorious service in the Post the past year. Provision for the annual awarding of medals was made by Samuel F. Houston, father of the man for whom the Post was named. The winners of the medals Tuesday night are Joseph H. Bromely, Jr., past commander, and Robert B. Wilkinson, first vice commander. J. George Black, commander of the Post, made the presentations. He was also the toastmaster following the dinner."
