Description

Dress. Lady's dress; brown and white checked taffeta with stripe going around gathered neck lace fichu (modesty insert at low neckline); short cap sleeves; net under sleeves tacked in. Matching capelet. trimmed with brown braid; brown thread covered double ball fringe. Bodice and capelet are lined; skirt is unlined. Dress belonged to Mrs. Benjamin H. Shoemaker and was worn about the time of her wedding in 1856. Excellent condition. Circa 1856. Transcribed from original accession record.
