Clippings and memorabilia from World War I scrapbook compiled by Dr. Naaman H. Keyser, page 92.
A single newspaper clipping from an unknown newspaper is glued to page 92, with the headline exclaiming "New Phila. 'Ace' Only 20 Years Old." The article proceeds to tell the reader that "Philadelphia has another 'ace'- a twenty-year-old flyer, who officially is credited with five German planes. This young man, who shares with Major Charles Biddle the distinction of being the city's only ace, is Lieutenant J. Sidney Owens, and expects to stay there for some time. News of the young lieutenant's exploits, who was honored in October by being made a flight commander and recommended for promotion to first lieutenant, is contained in a letter to his grandmother, Mrs. Samuel F. Prentzel, 131 East Washington Lane, with whom he lived. " Includes a photograph of the Lieutenant.
Pages are 7.5 x 10".Photograph Details
