2013.13.1.155Description
Clippings and memorabilia from World War I scrapbook compiled by Dr. Naaman H. Keyser, page 152.
A single newspaper clipping, undated and from an unknown newspaper, is glued to page 152. This clipping bears the headline "Philadelphia Nurse Toils in the Russian Caucasus," and notes that "In the heart of the Russian Caucasus a plucky Philadelphia woman is doing what she can to help Armenians against their oppressors. She is Miss Blanche Knox, a Red Cross nurse, of 228 West Queen lane, Germantown. Letters written to her closest friend, Miss Sarah E. Grier, described some of her work in that section. Miss Knox told how she was trying to take care of orphans, half-grown girls, on scarcely any rations at all. She is in charge of an orphanage at Etchmaidzin, the seat of the patriarch of Armenia." Includes a photo of Miss Knox.
Pages are 7.5 x 10".Photograph Details
