Please see notes for additional information.
Page 13 shows a photograph on the grounds at Manheim (Germantown Cricket Club). This photograph shows two women standing in front of a garden area at Manheim both wearing fulll length dresses. The womam on the left is wearing a dress with a hoop skirt that billows outward. The sleeves of her dress also billow out at the wrist and she appears to be wearing gloves. In her left hand she is holding a somewhat circular spray of flowers. On her head she is wearing what appears to be a knitted hat, and a cameo (attached to a dark piece of fabric) adornes her neck. The woman on the right is dressed to accentuate a different time period. She is wearing a much plainer full length dress with a dark apron and a white shawl crossed against her chest. On her head is a dark bonnet tied under the chin and a single flower is affixed to the shawl front.
The females are standing in front of a garden area with two brick columns in the background surmounted by two large globes. The globe on the left is also semi-covered with ivy. They are standing on a brick pathway and behind them is an entryway into another part of the garden area. In the background (out of focus) is the outline of a large building with the sloping roofline being most prominent. A second building in the left background is also visible.Photograph Details
