Please see notes for additional information.
Page 31 shows a photograph on the grounds at Manheim (Germantown Cricket Club). The photograph shows a woman in period costume standing in front of an "exhibit" building at Manheim. The woman is dressed in a full-length formal dress with the skirt having a ruffled "layer" attached near the bottom. The dress is gathered at the waist with fabric tied into a long bow. A bow is also tied around her neck at the top of the dress. She is wearing a bonnet adorned with flowers and fabric and tied under the chin. Two rows of curled hair fall on each side of her shoulders. She is wearing full-length gloves which extend to the top of the short sleeves of her dress. Her shoes are secured by crossing straps.
She is standing in front of a "faux" building on the grounds at Manheim made to resemble an old stone structure in Germantown. The stone and the doorway are painted (probably on canvas). From previous photographs, these "buildings" are actually tents with the opposite side open and displaying wares for sale to benefit Germantown Hospital.Photograph Details
