Please see notes for additional information.
Page 36 shows a photograph on the grounds at Manheim (Germantown Cricket Club). The photograph shows a man and a woman in period costume standing in the grounds at Manheim in front of an "exhibit" area. The woman is wearing a full length dress The skirt portion of the dress is layered and frilled. Over the dress she is wearing a dark lace shawl which drapes over her shoulders and falls to waist length. She is wearing a bonnet with an extended brim which is tied under the chin. She is facing the man on the right who is dressed in a long knee-length coat with buttons and a large pocket flap secured by buttons. His pants are knee length and buttoned on the sides. He is wearing knee length stockings and buckles on his shoes. His hair is shoulder length and in his hand is an open book. With one finger, he points at the lady and is looking directly at her. The both appear to be in conversation.
They are standing in the foreground in open terrain. Behind them is an "exhibit" under a canopy. Tables within the tent would seem to display wares that are for sale at the Fete to benefit Germantown Hiospital.Photograph Details
