Please see notes for additional information.
Page 37 shows a photograph on the grounds at Manheim (Germantown Cricket Club). The photograph shows two women in period costume standing in the garden area at Manheim. The woman on the left is dressed in a full length dress with a frontspiece (below the waist) that is in contrasting color. A lace fabric collar is affixed to the top of the dress, and the sleeves are rolled up to reveal white fabric sleeves extending below the elbow. A purse seems attached to a sprig of flowers attached to the bodice of the dress. In her right hand, she carries a small basket of flowers. She wears a bonnet with dark fabric encircling the top and falling down to tie under her chin. The woman on the right is also dressed in a full length dress but of a plainer (and probably earlier era). A sheer white fabric is incorporated into the top portion of the dress and extends from the bosom over the shoulders. She wears a plain white fabric bonnet and carries a woven tray filled with flowers.
They are standing in the foreground in front of a rounded arbor/trellis. Baskets of flowers are poisitioned on the ground and pieces of "fabric" hang from the trellis/arbor. In the background is another abror/trellis and mature trees/vegetation.Photograph Details
