Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 7, page 38
Please see notes for additional information.
Page 38 shows a photograph on the grounds at Manheim (Germantown Cricket Club). The photograph shows a group of six women in period costume standing in the garden area at Manheim. All are wearing full length dresses, bonnets/hats, most are carrying purses. Many of the hats/bonnets are adorned with flowers, and many are wearing medallions/cameos. Many are wearing shawls and or short capes/jackets. Many of the skirts are layered.
They are standing in a garden area at Manheim, next to a formal base upon which sits a sundial. Around and behind them are flower beds, a garden wall in the background and buildings on the distant background. Mature trees/vegetation fill in the background.
It is likely that the woman in the photograph (third from left) is Mrs. Edward Walter Clark, Jr. (Lydia Jane Newhall Clark) who was in charge of the Fete. (See Germantown Crier, Volume 62, Number 1, Spring 2012, page 24 and Figure 15, page 25.)Photograph Details
