Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 7, page 39
Please see notes for additional information.
Page 39 shows a photograph on the grounds at Manheim (Germantown Cricket Club). The photograph shows a woman in period costume standing in front of an "exhibit" at Manheim. The woman is dressed in a plain white full-length dress gathered under the bosom and tied at the shoulders. The sleeves of the dress are full-length. The dress collar is rounded and hangs from the shoulders. Around her neck is a tight string of pearls. Draped over her left arm is a matching piece of fabric which falls to the ground. She is also wearing white shoes and carrying a parasol. On her head is a bonnet adorned with flowers.
She is standing in open ground in front of an "exhibit " which has been created to resemble an old stone dwelling in Germantown. In actuality these exhibits are tents with faux painting on one side to depict a Germantown structure; the other side is open and contains displays of wares for sale to benefit Germantown Hospital.Photograph Details
