Please see notes for additional information.
Page 47 shows a photograph on the grounds at Manheim (Germantown Cricket Club). The photograph shows a man dressed in period costume in the garden area at Manheim. The man is dressed in a formal dress with a knee length frock coat embroidered with "piping" along the pocket edges, at the elbows and along each side of the front of the coat. Fancy buttons are also affixed to the top of the coat. Dark knee-length pants are tucked into white stockings. His shoes are adorned with fancy buckles. A lace, frill cravat and frill "sleeves" protrude from the jacket. He is not wearing a hat.
He stands behind a structure resembling a log cabin (but which is likely a tent). The roof of the structure is likely of canvas and is peaked in the front (which is not visible in the photograph). The spaces between the logs are filled with leaves and branches and two paintings/illustrations are affixed to the outside wall of the structure (posssibly for sale).
This structure sits on open space on the Manheim grounds. Around it are mature trees/vegetation. In the background a large arbor/trellis is visible and two women are visible in the right foreground.Photograph Details
