Description

Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 7, page 6 Please see notes for additional information. Page 6 shows a photograph on the grounds at Manheim (Germantown Cricket Club) with indivdiuals dressed in period clothing. In this photograph, individuals are gathered side-by-side facing the photographer. All of the participants are women or young girls with the exception of one man (fourth from the left). The man is dressed in formal colonial garb with a frock coat, a white cravat with a winged collar piece and a curled wig. The woman and girls are seen wearing full length dresses, with some also wearing aprons. A majority of the females are wearing hats, although not all. To the left of the group, on the ground, are various pots of flowers. To the right of the group, on a table rest two bird houses. Directly in front of the table, on the ground, are various styles of woven baskets. A small trellis arch is seen behind the group. In the background, to the left, can be glimpsed a portion of a building facade , a brick wall and hedges. Much of the background is obscured by mature trees and vegetation.
