Urban Archives Exhibit Ex311
Label: In 1775 a group of residents of upper Germantown built the Concord School House. The dust and mud of the road made it difficult to get their children to the Union School, so they built another more conveniently located school. Though the school was closed during the Revolution, it reopened in 1783 and grew so that a second story was needed by 1819. (19)
Concord School House is open to the public.
