Description

Blueprint plan of proposed Pennsylvania Railroad line to Chestnut Hill, 1880, now SEPTA's Chestnut Hill West line. Shows the proposed railroad from Germantown Junction [North Philadelphia] to Chestnut Hill. Includes property lines and associated structures then existing along the right of way of the proposed railroad. Extends approximately 30' [yes, FEET], in length. Shows arcs of proposed curves along the line. Due to its fragile nature, it has only been unrolled once since its receipt by the GHS. The map would be useful for those confirming dates of construction of buildings adjacent/ near to the railroad's right of way, as the map helps split the gap in half between the two available maps available of the area in the era- 1876 and 1885. One end of map has "8774 C.E. SYSTEM" tag, with red print.
