Cabinet card photograph, black and white, with donor's great aunt, Elsie Ray Pickles at the far left. Miss Pickles (1898-1985) was one of seven children born to Sylvester and Alice Brook Pickles, and was a sister of the donor's grandfather, Albert Newell Pickles, Sr., who was the youngest of the children. The circumstances surrounding this photograph are unknown. This rather formal photograph was taken at the Gilbert photography studio and is strangely devoid of any information as to the purpose for the "sitting" of the photograph. If you know the identities of any of the other women in the photograph, please let us know about it!
