This "charming" book recounts day travels to nearby points of interest by members of the "Monastery of the Meerschaum" (and to some extent by their brethren, "The Monks of the Passaic.") These two groups were formed by young Philadelphians (mostly artists and literary men) who adopted monks' names and writing styles. These "jaunts" are to various locations in the city of Philadelphia and outside the city limits (one to Mt. Gretna, Pennsylvania).
