Description

In this classic 1866 drawing, one sees Charles Megarge's [Megargee] paper mill. The mill was formerly located on the west bank of the Wissahickon Creek in the vicinity of the intersection of Wise's Mill Road and the old Wissahickon Turnpike [now Forbidden Drive]. The mill survived through much of the 19th Century but was ultimately demolished in the late 1800s to protect the waterway from pollution.
