Description

Photographs from Photo Scrapbook 1, Part 1, Page 31. Photograph a: [top] is a photograph of the Concord School House, located at 6313 Germantown Avenue. The photograph shows a brick paved Germantown Avenue and brick paved sidewalk in the foreground. A tall stone wall with a metal gate to the left surrounds the grounds of the school building. The building itself is a tall building of two stories with a brick chimney and belfrey. The tower appears "crowned" with a weathervane and a bell is slightly visible in the belfrey. The exterior of the building is stone covered with stucco. Original photograph year 1904. Photograph b: [bottom right] is a photograph the Concord School House taken from inside the school grounds. It shows a side view of the building with a brick path and a wooden "overhang" extending to create an "awning". In the foreground are two steps with a railing leading up to a door. Extending out beside the door (affixed to the facade) is a wooden sign indicating Museum. A plaque affixed to the side of the building attests to its designation as the Concord School House. Additional steps are visible under the wooden "awning". A stone wall is visible beyond the path in the background. Original photograph year 1904. Photograph c: [bottom left] is a photograph of the Johnson House (see catalog number 2013.5.1.30a). This photograph shows a "side view of the front of the house. The sidewalk is brick paved and several trees are visible planed in the sidewalk. The house is a three story stone structure with two dormer windows visible at the roof line. What is more clearly visible in this photograph which was not as visible in 2013.5.1.30a are the two wooden benches built onto either side of the front entrance. Clearly visible in this photograph is a man sitting on the far left bench. In the foreground is what appears to be a driveway beside the house. In the distance is a fence extending away from the house and a possible side (intersecting) street in the far distance (although this is far from clear). Original photograph year 1904.
