The photograph sohws a three story building with two dormer windows built into the roof line. Above the first story level is an overhang extending the width of the entire first floor. Affixed to the overhang is a sign labeled "Mermaid Hotel". The overhang is supported by several columns. The facade is covered with stucco and a team of horses are saddled to an open four -wheeled wagon in front of the hotel. To the left is a portion of a stone wall and fence in front of a large tree. A sign in front of the tree is labeled Germantown Avenue. Mermaid Lane (seen in the foreground) is unpaved as is Germantown Avenue (it would appear). There is a low stone wall in the hotel front yeard and a large barn (?) building to the right of the hotel, partially obscured by a large tree.Photograph Details
