The Princess Elizabeth: A Lyric Drama. Hard cover, 212 pages. The first copy of this book is found in the Library stacks at F, W3 (2014.28.1617). Inside the Front Cover is an index card with the following inscription: "We should keep some of FrancisHoward Williams' poetry as he and his wife hosted L. M. Alcott and Walt Whitman and lived at Greene and Coulter. L. M. Alcott refers to his poems - a letter to his wife, Mary B. Houston Williams. We may be the only place that has these." It is signed "Judith." Judith, in all likelihood, refers to Judith Callard, a long time GHS volunteer, editor of the Germantown Crier and Germantown resident.
A typed label found inside the Front Cover indicates this book was a gift to The Germantown Historical Society from Mrs. William B. Linn in July, 1952.Collection
