Description

The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 1, Part 2- The Wissahickon Page 102 contains three postcards - (a) and (b) are in color and (c) is in black and white. (a) is captioned: "Entrance to Wissahickon Driveway, Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, Pa.". The photograph shows a multi-arched stone bridge spanning the waterway, with a dam in the foreground over which water is cascading. To the right in the photograph is a portion of the Wissahickon Drive. (b) is captioned: "Philadelphia & Reading RR Bridge over the Wissahickon, Philadelphia, Pa.". The photograph shows a mutil-arched stone bridge spanning the Wissahickon Creek. (c) is captioned: "Wagonette at Ridge Avenue and Wissahickon Drive". In the foreground is a wagon with two axels and a canopy with two horses and a person sitting in the driver's perch. Ridge Avenue is in the foreground and is brick paved with trolley tracks embedded in the roadway. Wissahickon Drive can be seen sloping slightly "downward" to the right. To the left, behind the wagon, is what apears to be some sort of commercial establishment (based upon signage affixed to the side of the building which cannot be read). In the background is a multi-arched stone bridge spanning the Drive and the Wissahickon.
