The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 1, Part 2- The Wissahickon
Page 121 contains a newspaper photograph of the Falls of Wissahickon. The newspaper rendtion of the photograph (attributed to Haydn Marriott) is entitled "Falls of Wissahickon in February". The line underneath the title attributes the photograph (as previously mentioned) to Haydn Marriott and indicates the Falls of Schuylkill. It should be noted that the Falls of Schuylkill are located on the Schuylkill River in the East Falls section/neighborhood of the city of Philadelphia. The falls depicted in this photograph are indeed the Falls of Wissahickon and are located on the Wissahickon creek near to the confluence of the creek and the Schuylkill River. Although both Falls are in somewhat close proximity, they are separate and distinct. Therefore, the caption as shown is incorrect (in referring to the Falls of Schuylkill).
The photograph shows two stone pillars of the multi-arched, stone railroad bridge spanning the Wissahickon. In the foreground, the Falls cascade over the stone wall dam creating a scenic waterfall.Collection
