The Edwin C. Jellett Series of Scrapbooks, Volume 1, Part 2- The Wissahickon
Page 126 contains a newspaper clipping (which Jellett attributes to the Evening Bulletin of 11-23-1901) entitled "New Concrete Steps to Lovers' Lane". The caption indicates that new concrete steps have been built to make easier access to Lovers' Lane (which leads along the Wissahickon). The Park Commission contracted the building of these steps which lead up the steep embankment to the street . The photograph depicts the Falls of Wissahickon at the bottom foreground and the steps (known as the Hundred Steps) lead from the path to the street above the steep slope (Rochelle Avenue). Houses can be seen at the top of the embankment where the steps end.Collection
